We had the fireside/dance on Friday, and our speaker was Greg Simpson. He is a musician who has some albums and does a lot of music for EFY. So he played guitar a lot and sang and told us different stories. Then we had the dance, which I wish everybody was that fun at the regular dances. Because everyone was more energetic and weren't just standing around :/ Plus Becca, Crystal, and I got o be little missionaries and make a new friend. (: So the dance was awesome, there were a bunchs hot guys, a new friend was made, and I got Greg Simpson's autograph. Fun time.
We spent the night at Becca's and took showers and stuff and were in bed by at least 12:30. The next morning we woke up at around six-ish and got dressed and went to the church and then we went to the Maryvale Revitalization Preservation Place (not really sure what it's called) and had donuts and apple juice. And we got our shirts which looked really nice this year. (:
It took us a while to find our house, but finally we got there. And we were paired with Campo Bello Ward, which was fun :D So all together at our house there was around 15 youth and whatever leaders came. We began to scrape all the wood off, but we had to avoid this whole side of the house that had hail damage and the wood was just chipping off everywhere. Luckily, one of the leaders from the other ward was a carpenter or something, so he knew how to take care of everything. They went to Home Depot, got some wood, his daughter Pamela helped him cut it (she was like, pro) and they fixed all that up. Well some of the windows were broken and cracked, so they also replaced those.
Finally we got to paint. Painting is the funnest part, I think. This year we had two of those air sprayers, so all we really needed to paint was a rollers width around windows and doors, and we painted all the trims around the windows.
Of course, we finished last again, but it was worth it. It was totally amazing to see the difference between the old home and the new one. Plus it made the family really happy. (:
I also helped deliver turkeys to random houses in the neighborhood. Well I got to do one anyways. We went up one way on the street, and when we came back down the other o find a different house everyone had jobs for me to do.
I'm really excited for next year though.
Today in Young Womens we had a lesson on who makes a difference in our life, and we each got ribbons that say "Who I Am Makes A Difference". And you know what, it is totally true.
So Im thankful I got to help make a difference in that family's life and in the neighborhood. (:
Here's an article on this, by the way. It was in the newspaper this morning apparently. And just as a side note, Tyler got quoted and pictured in the last article written about us. Lame. D:
