Thanksgiving

As you know, Thanksgiving was on Thursday. In our family, Thanksgiving means all of us going to someones house (Aunt Marcella this year), start eating dinner at 12, going out to some remote area of the desert to shoot things, play some trivia games, and then we eat more and go home at around 7.

Of course, since our family is hilarious, we always talk to each other. We probably would talk to each other even if we weren't hilarious, just to avoid a giant awkward silence the whole time. It would be a whole lot less entertaining though. Well anyways, we'll be sitting there talking and, for me Thanksgiving is kind of magical. Not Christmas magical, but I just get this peace throughout my whole body and my life is perfectly fine and safe for one day. There is no war and our government actually cares about us. There aren't any starving or homeless people, and everybody loves America. We are truly free to do whatever we want and the feeling is phenomenal.

Then somebody will start talking political (and it isn't even always mom.) And I'll snap out of it and realize I was completely wrong. I mean, I should feel peaceful and proud on Thanksgiving, but I shouldn't entirely forget about everyone else waiting for their own freedoms. When there are people starving out there, I can't complain that I only got two deviled eggs. I should eat them... thankfully. I should be happy that we have such a huge place to get together, and that I have a hilarious family.
And yeah, America is kind of crappy right now, but it's better than a lot of other places. I'm not saying we should just be thankful and go our merry way, but while we are standing at the capitol, fighting to receive all our old freedoms, we should just remember how we got there and be grateful. Be grateful for cars and buses and airplanes.
But more importantly be grateful for your parents and soldiers who have fought to keep America America.

Or you know something like that. I wanted to write something for Thanksgiving but I am not the best at getting to the point because really, I don't know what my point was. Happy Thanksgiving. Now I can get on with my Christmas gifting.
